A TOTALLY AMATEUR BANKNOTE COLLECTOR

Wednesday 2 January 2013

BELARUS

Belarus is a former soviet republic which became independent in 1991. the banknotes are in Rubles and 1 ruble + 100 Kapeek. The 3 above are Rubles from 1992 with a wild life theme on the reverse. Below is 50 Kapeeks from the same issue.

The script used in Belarus is the Cyrillic (or russian) alphabet here's a link to help you with translating.

This note (above) is the 1000 rubles (rublei)  note from 1998. the reverse has a picture of the science academy

This last lot of notes are from the 2000 issue. the 1,5 and 10 ruble notes are all about 2/3 the size of the first two. I have shown the reverse sides of these notes as they are more interesting than the front sides. The one ruble is showing the academy of sciences (see link above), 5 rubles has  a scene from Minsk (the capital city) , 10 rubles has the national library.

The 20 ruble note from the same year, 2000, has the national bank building with an inside view on the reverse, whereas the 50 rubles note has  Holmsky gate on the front and the war memorial (pictured) on the reverse.
